Diagram

The packages shape and diagram were the first R-packages made by Karline Soetaert. They were created to avoid the use of powerpoint, or any similar ‘click and drag’ program for making diagrams.

These packages have proven especially useful to create the figures that were used in the two books written by Karline Soetaert:

  • A Practical Guide to Ecological Modelling; Using R as a Simulation Platform (Soetaert, Karline, Herman, Peter M. J.);
  • Solving Differential Equations in R (Soetaert, Karline, Cash, Jeff, Mazzia, Francesca).

In the gallery below you will find some figures from these books; the codes of the other figures can be found in the R-packages ecolMod and diffEq.
